Halfmoon Happenings

Halfmoon Bay

A very merry Christmas to everyone. Be careful on our dark streets, especially with local families out walking to visit neighbours. If you are going to drink, be socially responsible and don’t drive.

Fifteen-year-old Jada Mackenzie-Moore is formerly from the Coast and was picked for the World Championships of Performing Arts 2016 Canada Vocal Team. Jada now lives in Vancouver, where she is attending the Sarah McLachlan School of Music. She will compete in the Junior Vocal Category at the 2016 World Championships of Performing Arts in Long Beach, Calif., July 8 to 17.

Jada is back on the Coast for Christmas and will be singing carols at Halfmoon Bay General Store on Christmas Day between 3 and 4 p.m. as a fundraiser to help with the costs involved in being on the Canada Team.

Please attend and help Jada Go For Gold!

Pickleballers will be at it again on Wednesday, Jan. 6 and each Wednesday thereafter until March 9 at the Halfmoon Bay Community School gym, Northwood Road. Plan to arrive by 7 p.m. for registration. Equipment is provided. Cost is $3 per session. There are three courts, one dedicated to beginners with instruction provided, the other two follow the level play format set out by the Sunshine Coast Pickleball Association.
