Halfmoon Happenings

I have an apology to make first off this week. After advertising that people could get their tickets for the Welcome Beach Christmas dinner or New Year's event, I neglected to say school was closed Monday, and I would be away Tuesday.

I have an apology to make first off this week. After advertising that people could get their tickets for the Welcome Beach Christmas dinner or New Year's event, I neglected to say school was closed Monday, and I would be away Tuesday. Thank you for your patience if you came and I was not here. If you are looking for tickets it may be wise to give a call before you head up to the school to be sure I am in the office. Just call 604-885-2177 and leave a message as I sometimes am with students for short periods during the day.

The Christmas Dinner is next Saturday, Dec. 11. Doors open at 6 p.m., with dinner, which will include turkey and fixings, dessert and carol singing followed by DJ Tom, dancing, bar service, and prizes starting at 7 p.m.Tickets are just $15 for adults and $7.50 for children.

There are two safety issues worth mentioning this week. Firstly, the snow last week was quite a temptation for some young drivers to use the Connor Park parking lot and entrance to do a few donuts etc, which makes things quite unsafe for children and dogs. Secondly, it has been reported to me that insulin needles have been discarded along Fawn Road leaving a health hazard for little ones. Please take a few minutes to talk to your family about both these issues and raise everyone's awareness about how our actions can affect others.

We have a few things in the works for after Christmas here at the school and a newsletter will be going out the week of Dec. 14 with all the details.

For families with children zero to five a winter potluck is planned for Jan. 10. If you would like to assist with set-up please call me at 604-885-2177. Also for little ones, there will be Music Time with two classes offered Thursday mornings, one for three and four-year-olds, and one for four and five-year olds, beginning Jan. 20. I'll have more details in the next few weeks.
