The Wilson Creek Sunshine Coast Village has a new sign, carved by Derek Georgeson (left). The sign was part of a celebration on April 24 marking the construction of a set of Habitat for Humanity homes by local high school students completing their Level 1 Carpentry certification. The sign recognizes the 12-year partnership between Vancouver Island University, School District No. 46 (SD46) and Habitat for Humanity Sunshine Coast, and is dedicated to Robert Shantz, who worked with Habitat for Humanity for many years on projects across North America. Also in the photo are SD46 board chair Lori Pratt, SD46 director of instruction Paul Bishop, and Jessie Magee-Chalmers, associate dean of trades at Vancouver Island University.
