This Friday, Nov. 11, you have an opportunity to attend the Annual Remembrance Day Service at the Roberts Creek Legion starting at 10:45 a.m. Lunch will be served afterwards. Let us remember together.

On Saturday, Nov. 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. plan to attend the Bizarre Bazaar hosted by the Sunshine Coast Grandmothers and GrandOthers. The event will feature lunch, crafts, books, silent auction, baking, jams and jellies. Proudly supporting the Stephen Lewis Foundation, the group encourages you to join in the fun.

Also on Saturday, enjoy a book launch and reading from Adele Barclay, Nathaniel G. Moore, Amber McMillan and Catherine Owen at the Gumboot Café at 7 p.m.

Chris Hergesheimer and the Dance Floor Chaperones present Latin Funk on Saturday, Nov. 12. Bop and bump to salsa, cumbia, merengue, calypso and more at the Roberts Creek Legion starting at 9 p.m. Members $6, guests with members $10.

Live music at the Gumboot Restaurant on Nov. 16 features The Remnants from 6 to 8 p.m.

Also on the third Thursday, Nov. 17 this month, enjoy Creative in the Creek at the Gumboot Café, 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., by donation. This event showcases some of the best in local talent on the Sunshine Coast.

The Roberts Creek Community Association is seeking volunteers for the 47th annual Christmas Craft Fair that runs from Dec. 2 to 4 at the Roberts Creek Hall and the Masonic Hall. Roberts Creek Legion is looking for vendors for their third annual craft fair on Saturday, Dec. 3,10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Email [email protected] or call 604-741-1122.

New at the Library are two books for grade schools, the novel Wonder by R.J. Palacio (a movie was made of it in Vancouver this summer and is coming out soon), and the sequel called Augie and Me. New for adults are Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead, 13 Ways of Looking at a Fat Girl by Mona Award, The Whistler by John Grisham, The Wonder by Emma Donnaghue and more up-to-date titles. Reservations can be made. The friendly volunteers invite you to come in and take out a membership if you don’t have one already!

I hope you caught the artistic posters (19 of them) from Gibsons to Pender Harbour (there are three in the Creek) on the theme of Remembrance Day and what it means from the perspective of youth from five to 14.

Enjoy a peaceful weekend as we remember those who died to ensure we could enjoy freedom.
