The Sunshine Coast is an area of high food insecurity.

It has been reported that 20 per cent of our population live in poverty. In 2021, the St. Bart’s Food Bank (Gibsons) provided food hampers to 1,139 persons.

We also gave away 360 dozen eggs, 275 kg of carrots and many other food and household necessities. In December 2021, we gave away warm clothing and grocery gift cards to 178 people in need.

Our 100 per cent volunteer-run organization operates using more than 700 hours of volunteer time per year and includes adults/seniors from our community and teens from Elphinstone Secondary. None of this would be possible without the caring and generosity of this community! We are so grateful to all of our donors, our volunteers and the many local businesses who support us. We are blessed to live in a community that shares from their abundance to those who need it most. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
