In honour of its 25th anniversary, Gibsons Paddle Club bought a defibrilator that will live at the Gibsons Marina.

Gibsons Paddle Club has been a fixture on the waters of Shoal Channel for many years. Members can be seen launching various outrigger canoes every day of the week and if lucky, you can hear Ed Hill singing Squamish paddling songs during the early morning paddles.

In 1999, the Gibsons Paddle Club was incorporated and with the generosity from the Town of Gibsons and Gibsons Marina, they exist on the unceded Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) territory at the marina storage area. Twenty-five years later, as the club ages, so do their members. Membership continues to be over 100 members with 60 per cent over the age of 65 years.

To commemorate their 25 years and show appreciation to the community in whole, they have donated an automated external deliberator (AED) for use by anyone in an emergency situation. As the seawall is a popular walking area, with boaters coming and going and club members launching canoes nearby, the AED is installed outside the marina office, available 24 hours a day.

The Gibsons Paddle Club would like to thank the Town of Gibsons and Gibsons Marina for continuing to support their club for the past 25 years. Without the generosity of the community the club would not exist!
