The Gibsons Garden Club plant sale is ready to blossom.

Spring is here, COVID-mandated restrictions are lifting and the Gibsons Garden  Club is very excited to once again be able to offer their annual plant sale, to take place April 30 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Gibson and Area Community Center (lower parking lot). The stock for the sale comes from the gardens of the club members and, after three years with no plant sale, so many things are screaming to be divided and shared! You can expect to find a large selection of flowers perennials shrubs, berries, herbs and more, all offered at very reasonable prices. Potting up sessions began in mid-March and will continue, providing the large selection of plants the public has come to expect over the many years of the club sale. There will be master gardeners on site to answer all of your gardening questions. As well, an eclectic offering of garden decor will be available for purchase, and then you can pick up a treat from the bake sale table to take home for your afternoon tea!

This year, 2022, is the Year of the Garden, a centennial celebration of Canada’s horticulture sector. A very vibrant garden culture has developed in Canada, from large-scale food production to small-scale container and patio gardens. There are many ways to celebrate gardens ranging from getting right in there with tools and plants or strolling down the sidewalks in our community and admiring the beautiful summer hanging baskets that the town is rightfully very proud of. The health and wellness benefits of gardening are well documented.
