The Sunshine Coast Botanical Garden will hold a series of intimate garden parties in late August, celebrating the release of a newly created Botanical Garden Gin from Bruinwood Estate Distillery.

The series of four fundraising parties will be held Monday, Aug. 23, Tuesday, Aug. 24, Friday, Aug. 27, and Monday, Aug. 30, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Garden, 5941 Mason Rd., Sechelt. Tickets are $150 per person, and include food and drink, plus a very special gin-tasting. You may purchase individual tickets, or for up to a party of 12.

Last year, Jeff Berringer and Danise Lofstrom of Bruinwood created their first Botanical Garden Gin based on the Native Plants collections at the Garden. It won international acclaim for its “terroir” and unique flavours. The new gin is also distilled from plants harvested at the Garden, featuring herbal notes with a touch of lavender this year.

Botanical Garden Gin will soon be available from Bruinwood’s tasting room at 2040 Porter Rd. in Roberts Creek, or at shops and various farmers’ markets on the Coast. Again, this is a limited edition of only 100 bottles, and Bruinwood will donate half the proceeds to the Garden. With its fine flavour and only 100 bottles, this limited edition is expected to be gone quickly.

The Sunshine Coast Botanical Garden is open to the public by donation from Friday through Tuesday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. With beautiful gardens, a picnic area, and kilometres of level paths under forest, by ponds, and through meadows, it is an ideal place for families, seniors, and anyone seeking a safe place to refresh and reconnect with the natural world. Annual membership is very reasonable and allows an unlimited number of visits each year, plus many other benefits. Visit coastbotanicalgarden.org for further information about the garden parties or the Sunshine Coast Botanical Garden.
