Woodland Christmas and Winter Lights

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at Sunshine Coast Botanical Garden. Come share in the magic at the Winter Lights and Woodland Christmas events.

Get your glow on all through December at the Sunshine Coast Botanical Garden’s special events planned for everyone’s enjoyment this season. Woodland Christmas and Winter Lights have become part of many Sunshine Coasters’ holiday traditions, a chance to make warm memories with loved ones.

Woodland Christmas is on Sunday Dec. 6 from 4 to 8 p.m. and includes stories, a children’s nature craft, music and refreshment, plus sales of home baking, preserves, living wreaths, gifts and nature-themed décor. Santa and his elves will welcome the little ones. As darkness falls, the Winter Lights display comes alive in the woods. Admission is by donation at the door.

The Winter Lights will continue to sparkle from the branches each Sunday, Monday and Tuesday from Dec. 7 to 29, 5 to 8 p.m. Put a twinkle in the eyes of your family, friends and neighbours with a short walk through a magical forest. You can purchase live seasonal greens at the boughs and berries market to create your own festive arrangements. Each evening features a special activity such as a campfire, floral demonstrations, or homemade soup. Dec. 13, Arbutus Sounds Chorus croon their Sweet Adelines harmonies. Dec. 21, Suncoast Phoenix Community Choir presents modern and traditional tunes. Generous support from Sunshine Coast Credit Union will make the display of lights more brilliant than ever. Admission to Winter Lights is $5 for adults, children sparkle free.

Sunshine Coast Botanical Garden is at 5941 Mason Rd. in West Sechelt. See www.coastbotanicalgarden.org for schedules and details. Make Woodland Christmas and Winter Lights part of your holiday festivity.
