Are you a wannabe structural engineer, excavator, or architect… Or just a family or group looking for some summertime fun? No matter your motivation, you are invited to join in the fun at the Davis Bay Sandcastle Competition, hosted by the Sunshine Coast Lions Club.
Teams or individuals can compete in one of three categories: Youth (under 12 and no help from mom and dad), Family, and Groups. Cost is $10 per entry and registration will commence at 9 a.m. Your 10’x10’ sand quadrant will be available for building from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and judging will be from 1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., with the winners being announced at 1:30 p.m. Entries will be judged on originality, difficulty, execution and the “WOW” factor. All materials used must be available on the beach. So pack up your shovels, rakes, buckets and come join in the fun.
Jim Taylor will also be providing music for your listening pleasure and will certainly add to the festive atmosphere of the day.
Slap on a hat, slip on the sunscreen, and come out prepared to amaze or be amazed by our talented Coasters. Spectators are also welcome. Can’t wait to see you there.
