Carnival coming June 22

Race your friends down the giant inflatable super slide, try your luck in the three lane bungee run, or tackle the survivor obstacle course at this year's West Sechelt Elementary School (WSES) Carnival.

The annual event takes place on June 22 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., and this year's carnival is packed with fun for everyone.

You can take a turn on any of the giant inflatable attractions, play carnival games for prizes, spin around on the mini merry-go-round, get a new do at the hair salon, clock your fastest hockey shot, soak a teacher with a perfect pitch or pick up a balloon animal, all while supporting the needs of students and staff at WSES.

The carnival is an annual fundraiser for the WSES Parents Advisory Committee (PAC). Proceeds from the event are used throughout the year to cover needs brought forward by students and staff as they arise.

Since its inception in 2006, proceeds from the carnival have helped pay for things like goal posts, library books, learning aids, science materials and various educational trips for students.

The carnival is also an opportunity to celebrate the end of the school year with the whole family.

"The West Sechelt Elem-entary PAC is dedicated to creating an evening of family fun. Our goal is not only to raise money for our school, but to provide an end of year event that celebrates kids," said WSES PAC co-chair Christine Hardt.

Come and enjoy the festivities with your family, and be sure to come hungry - volunteers will be serving up burgers, pizza, ice cream and other treats.

A pack of 15 tickets to enjoy the attractions and carnival games costs $5 and food is reasonably priced.

For more information or to volunteer, contact WSES PAC co-chair Allyson Fawcus at 604-885-5563 or Hardt at 604-885-6125.
