The Botanical Garden Plant Sale is back May 8, Mother›s Day, with a vast variety of plants, but more cautious spacing.

On Mother’s Day the Sunshine Coast Botanical Garden’s giant plant sale offers thousands of garden-ready choice plants from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 5941 Mason Road, Sechelt. For the safety of all, shoppers are requested to mask up and we will limit customers to 25 at a time. Tea and goodies will be on sale from the Davis Bay Tea Company, and you can get information or purchase tickets to our June 16 Tea in the Garden.

For a list of the plants for sale, visit www.coastbotanicalgarden.org. The selection is surprising: perennials, grasses, food plants shrubs or small trees, groundcovers, tender succulents, and native plants. From lovely lilies to clambering clematis, you’ll find plants suitable to every growing condition from seaside to forest, dry to boggy, a shady garden or one filled with sunshine. Our volunteers are themselves local home gardeners, so they can recommend plants to cope with deer, bitter outflow wind or drought. The master gardeners will be on hand to answer your gardening questions.

Admission is free, but bring your cash, cheque book, or credit card for plant purchases. You will find both rare treasures and bargains. Bring a box, barrow or bin to tote your plants, or leave them in our plant hold area while you continue shopping or visit the garden. Enter and park at main entrance, look for the Botanical Garden sign. Overflow parking is on Mason Road but watch for no parking zones where the bus turns.

While there, take time to have a walk around the garden – you won’t be disappointed.
