The Booty Camp Girls and Gibsons Marketplace IGA helped give back to the food bank last Saturday with a community fundraising food drive.

According to Booty Camp Girls member Rachel Griffiths, Bob Hoy and IGA were more than willing to help out when approached with the idea.

The Seasoned Kitchen was also on hand giving out coupons, and the Sunshine Coast Cupcakery handed out cupcakes to anyone who bought a bag for the full up.

Let me just say how proud and lucky I feel to live in such a great community, Griffiths said. Our goal was to bring a pick-up truck full of food to the food bank. So even though it was cold and rainy, our girls stood out there, and with help from this amazing community, collected over 100 bags of groceries. Not only were we able to fill the pick-up truck, we were able to also donate $289. People were more than willing to shell out $10 to buy a bag, and some even handed us a $20 bill. It's great to see people helping out their neighbours.
