Beautifying Chaster Park shoreline

Dirt was flying recently, when volunteers from the Elphinstone area along with area E director Lorne Lewis and Sam Adams, from the Sunshine Coast Regional District parks department, were busy beautifying the shoreline at Chaster Park.

As each year passes more of the shoreline is being eroded by ocean action, it was necessary to do some restoration work. Last year large boulders were placed along the shoreline to help break up the wave action. This year it was time to add more beauty to the area, with the placing of trees, roses, grasses, all happy with the salty ocean as a neighbour.

For some time the Elphinstone Electors' community) association, along with Lewis and Adams were busy selecting plants, arranging for the work to take place and get the word out for volunteers. The Elphinstone Electors' were successful in receiving a grant from SCRD's grant-in aid program for the purchase of plants, soil and fertilizer. Much work was accomplished previous to planting with thanks to NB Contracting for their kind donation. Thanks go out to Quality Farms who provided generously to the cause.

The community is blessed with great volunteers, and we all invite you to come and see the results of much sweat and sore muscles.
