Next Sunday, May 5, walkers of all ages on the Sunshine Coast will be joining thousands of Canadians across the country in the national annual Hike for Hospice.
The Sunshine Coast Hospice Society's Hike for Hospice will take place from noon to 2:30 p.m. at Porpoise Bay Provincial Park. Participants can register on-line, in person the weekend before, or the day of the event.
The purpose of this event is to raise awareness of the role hospice plays in end of life care, to honour or remember someone, and to raise money for hospice services in our community.
The Sunshine Coast Hospice Society, a community-based, non-profit organization, provides support and advocacy for those in our community coping with grief, bereavement and their end-of-life.
Specifically, the Sunshine Coast Hospice Society provides:
support to individuals and families dealing with life threatening illness.
bereavement support for persons going through the the grieving process.
two palliative care rooms, as well as a family room, at Shorncliffe in Sechelt.
Last year, more than 91 members of our community accessed the services of the Sunshine Coast Hospice Society.
Everyone in the community, kids, adults, and pets is invited to support and sustain the Sunshine Coast Hospice Society's work in caring for the dying and bereaved.
