It “sounded like a cannon” when lightning struck a tree on Bligh Road in West Sechelt during a severe thunder storm Saturday evening. While the tree lit on fire, the pounding rain soon extinguished the flames, said photographer Karen Rose. The weekend saw 14.5mm of precipitation at Environment and Climate Change Canada’s Sechelt weather station while temperatures reached 27C.

Sechelt Hospital Foundation is delighted to announce that Sue Carruthers has been named chair of the board of directors, with Courtney Pratt now serving as vice-chair and Ruth Rodgers as secretary, and Frank Belfry continuing to serve as treasurer.
