Self-guided tour begins Saturday in qathet

New and seasoned tour artists gear up for weekend event

More than 60 artists at 35 locations will open up their doors to the public this weekend for the 2025 qathet Studio Tour.

Haley Hunt-Brondwin from qathet ART said this year there is another great lineup of studios on the tour.

"Each year the studio tour grows and this year is our biggest with 35 locations," said Hunt-Brondwin. "We have quite a few new artists participating, some returning and some who have consistently participated over the years."

The new artists participating this year are:

Ron Smid at Stillwater Gallery is stop one on the tour; Dawn Myers: Basketmaker is number three; Brian McRae at Twin Eagles Studio is number four; painter Candace Parker, number nine, also has her work up at Powell River Public Library currently; abstract painter Tracy Raftl Art is number 20; painter Inge Bessmann Norris of Willow Studio is number 21; Nadine Laurin is number 27; and textile artist Hannah Rennie of Not Even the Friendzone is at location 29 with Lisa Hâù.

"But be sure to also check back in with returning artists, as you get to witness the evolution of their practice, " emphasized Hunt-Brondwin. "You get to see the new projects they are working on and ideas they are exploring, as well as the themes that carry through."

This year the studio tour map can be downloaded digitally or printed out onto paper. A list of participating artists can be found at qathetart.ca/directory-studio_tour.

The tour takes place from 10 am to 4 pm, Saturday and Sunday.
