At approximately 2:02 pm on June 13, Powell River RCMP responded to a report of a male shooting rounds from a firearm on the beach somewhere between the Beach Gardens Resort and Masters Road.
Police attended and located the male with a rifle in his possession. The male admitted to discharging several rounds into the hillside. No houses or people were in the immediate area and no one was harmed.
The 34-year-old male was arrested for unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He was released to appear in provincial court on September 12, 2023.
