Kisses and Kicks: June 23 edition

Here are the good deeds (and not so good deeds) that happened in our Coast community this week!
Kisses & Kicks
Kisses & Kicks

Here are your kicks and kisses for the week of June 23!

  • Kisses and Kudos to Allan Harding, Gus Giannakos, Julian Burtnick and Chuck Bertrand for doing a real “bang up” job.
  • Kicks to the powers that be for forcing us into a $70,000 riparian study to grow 4,000 lbs of potatoes. We hope they will donate 4,000 lbs of potatoes to food banks to compensate for this travesty.
  • Huge kisses to whoever planted all the wild flowers on Payne Rd! It is STUNNING!
  • Kisses to the guy in the Mercedes that followed me off the 101 to tell me my brake light was stuck on my motorcycle; and to Will at Penco Motorsports for doing the quick adjustment that fixed it for free! Much appreciated.
  • Kisses to the person who picked up my sweater and placed it on a branch so I would find it on the Lost & Found trail.  Thank you!
  • Grateful kisses to Marilyn and all the dedicated volunteers for making the annual Pender Harbour Blues Fest an event to enjoy and remember. It wouldn’t happen without you, and we wouldn’t miss it for anything.
  • Huge kisses to Scott of All Coast Towing who came to my home on a Saturday and through his great knowledge of auto mechanics, was able to get my car started so that it wasn’t necessary for a tow to an auto repair shop. Thank you so much, Scott. You’re my hero!
  • Kisses to Michael Davison for telling the truth about the Meadow Creek ghetto on Garden Bay Road. Well done..and, for Brian Lee for publishing the truth in the Harbour Spiel this month.
  • Kicks to the man that thought it was appropriate to park in front of my house and urinate in front of my property and then argue with me that the road was public property and that this behaviour was acceptable.
  • Kisses to the District of Sechelt Parks staff for doing such a great job at all our parks and for all the lovely garden beds and flower displays around town. The new Wharf Avenue sidewalks, trees and gardens are greatly appreciated too!!!
  • Kisses to the owners of SuperValu in Gibsons. They have created a Community Grant Project and surprised all 15 applicants by giving us all a $500 grant. Very generous.

Email your Kisses and Kicks to [email protected]. The deadline for submissions is 1 p.m. every Tuesday for a given week.

Coast Reporter will run kisses and kicks entries as space permits on a first-received, first-published basis.

Submissions must be accompanied by a name and phone number for confirmation by the editor. Names will not be printed in the column unless requested by the writer, for kisses only.

A kick is intended to be an anonymous critique between private parties and may in no way publicly identify an individual, group or business directly or indirectly.

Submissions must be no longer than 30 words. If your thanks or critique is longer, consider an ad in our classified section. The editor reserves the right to edit or refuse to run any submission.
