Kisses and Kicks: August 9 edition

Here are the good deeds (and not so good deeds) that happened in our Coast community this week!

Here are your kicks and kisses for the week of August 9!

  • A kennel full of kisses to the staff and Dr. Hope of the Landing Veterinary Hospital for their excellent care and compassion for our family and beautiful dog Pepper RIP. You made an unbearable day almost bearable with your kindness and professionalism. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
  • Kisses to the owner of “Uptown Eatery” for finding a lost bead to my bracelet which broke in her restaurant, then calling me to tell me she had it.  Very thoughtful!
  • A trail load of kisses to the Parks Department of Gibsons who so promptly responded to my call about the tripping hazard between the tarmac and the trail surface behind Christensen Village––you smoothed it out in record time! From grateful walker and bike rider.
  • Kisses to the drivers who slowed down and gave the cyclists in the Slow Food Cycle plenty of room. You made the event a fun safe event for over 600 cyclists of all ages and abilities who got a chance to enjoy the hospitality of our Sunshine Coast farm venues worry-free.
  • Kisses to our unknown local heroine, who In an act of kindness that would make even the most seasoned Girl Guide proud, pulled her car over to save the day for two adventurous, yet slightly disoriented, elderly female hikers who emerged lost from a forest hike. We’re not saying she should get a medal, but maybe a ‘Hiker Heroine’ badge?
  • Kisses to Conchita Harding, Matt Rowa, Jay Ghag, volunteers for organizing and conducting the 2024 Canada Day family barbecue celebration in Gibsons and for the $2,500 donation to the Salvation Army Food Bank.
  • Kisses to Tyler and RentalEquip.ca for helping to keep the Gibsons and District Volunteer Fire Department training yard clean and ready for use by firefighters.
  • Kicks to the pushy dark haired women in a jean jacket over a dress who attempted to tailgate road rage me at the dollar store. I was standing still looking at stuff and asked her to go around me please.
  • More than 369+ Kisses to the Roberts Creek and Gibsons Fire Departments (all volunteers) and the RCMP for responding to a small early morning house fire on Beach Ave. that could have become huge without your prompt intervention. Your professionalism and also your consideration towards all of us concerned neighbours were hugely appreciated!
