Alleged impaired driver drags woman, crashes into B.C. policing office

Witnesses watched the driver flee from the scene on foot.

Strangers rushed to help a woman on the weekend who was in a collision involving an alleged impaired driver.

Just before 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, Langley RCMP was notified about a vehicle crashing into the Aldergrove Community Policing Station.

Cpl. Craig van Herk says several witnesses at the scene were assisting a female occupant “out of a vehicle” after the driver collided a car into a building.

A video circulating on social media shows a moving vehicle with the driver’s side door open. In the video, the driver appears to be holding onto a woman who is being dragged outside the vehicle.

"First aid was initiated and BC Emergency Health Services responded, took over care of the female and she was transported to hospital,” says van Herk.

Officers were told by witnesses that the driver had left the collision on foot.

"The driver was located a short distance away and arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle,” says van Herk. "He was transported to Langley detachment for further investigation.”

Police learned that the incident allegedly began further east on Fraser Highway before the vehicle crashed into the building at 26970 Fraser Highway.

Glacier Media has asked for an update on the condition of the woman.

Langley RCMP’s Criminal Collision Investigation Team, the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service and the Integrated Forensic Identification Section are all assisting in the investigation.
