A joyful, energetic, powerful, seasoned a cappella quartet with a large range of material - individually, each of the Euphorics is a powerful lead singer; together, they create a rich and soulful blend in a repertoire of top-notch originals and innovative arrangements of covers in a wide variety of styles including gospel, jazz, classical and rock.

The Euphorics' passion for music comes through in performances that feature plenty of humour and audience interaction. They have been performing internationally since 1983. In 1999, the Euphorics won the Harmony Sweepstakes - San Francisco Bay Area Regionals a cappella competition.

Check them out on Saturday, May 14, at 8 p.m. at the School of Music.

The Euphorics are: Joani Bye, alto, whose powerful voice has graced the albums of Jon Bon Jovi, David Bowie, Rita McNeil and Cher. Bing Jensen, bass, long-time Vancouver performer, winner of the 1993 CARAS award for best children's album and the West Coast Music Award for Best Children's album in 1998. Helen Davis, soprano, formerly of the vocal group Street Hearts, of Hawaii, was a backup singer for groups such as Doug and the Slugs, Kathi McDonald and Johnny Ferriera's Swing Machine. Nathen Aswell, tenor, a veteran of the Montreal and Vancouver R&B, rock and session scenes, now creates and performs his own music.

Tickets for $20 are available at Harbour Insurance, John Henry's Marina, the Sechelt Visitors Centre and Gaia's Fair Trade.
