She was there for her owner until the end – and now Gypsy needs someone to be there for her. Staff at the BC SPCA’s Sunshine Coast Branch are hoping the community will come forward and help this sweet nine-year-old Staffordshire Terrier mix who will need surgery to correct her cherry eye, along with a second surgery to remove a fractured tooth.
“This beautiful girl came to us after her owner died. Gypsy had been staying with family friends for a few months, but they weren’t able to keep her because their strata had a one-dog rule,” says Marika Donnelly, BC SPCA branch manager, Sunshine Coast.
“Even under all of the sad circumstances Gypsy has been through, she hasn’t let that stop her from being a friendly pup with a little spring in her step. She loves to go on walks, and is so friendly to everyone she meets. She also likes to swim and go on car rides. We want to give her the opportunity to do all of the things she enjoys, free from pain and suffering.”
Along with the two surgeries to fix her eye and remove her tooth, Gypsy will need vaccinations, medications and daily care until she’s ready for adoption; all of this is expected to cost upwards of $2,500.
“This sweet senior girl has so much love and joy to give, and we’re hoping our community can give that same love back to Gypsy, too.”
