Telus ambassadors arrived at Sechelt Hospital on Oct. 9 to help the Hospital Foundation kick off its annual fundraising campaign.

The volunteers will be labelling hundreds of copies of the foundation’s Report to Community, a snapshot of health care services delivered over the past year, as well as the funds disbursed.

Foundation executive director Jane Macdonald says corporate and community partners are vital to the foundation’s success. “We are so fortunate to have partners such as Telus, West Coast Mining, the Credit Union and groups like Coaster’s Car Club to support the fundraising work of the foundation,” Macdonald said. “We know close to home health care is important to our coastal communities, because they tell us every day by dropping in to the office, dropping off a cheque, or partnering with us on events such as Comedy on the Coast and MedTalks.”

Highlights of the Report to Community include Did-You-Knows such as: there were 17,130 Emergency Room visits last year, 8,027 ultrasounds, 7,460 CT scans, 20,242 overnight stays and 2,283 surgeries.

Watch for the publication in your mailbox if you have been involved with the foundation in some way or drop by the Hospital Foundation office next to hospital registration to pick up a copy.
