Organizers of the Roberts Creek Earth Day Festival 2018 have issued a call-out to volunteers, non-profits, sustainable vendors, community groups and all community members to participate.

This is the 29th consecutive year of celebrating Earth Day on the Sunshine Coast and the third year that the event will be officially hosted by the Roberts Creek Community Association.

This year’s Earth Day Festival is scheduled for Sunday April 22, noon until 5 p.m. at Roberts Creek pier. Booth locations are $5 for non-profits, $15 to 25 for vendors and $25 to 35 for food vendors.

The festival is going plastic-free this year. Items with a plastic component that’s recycled/designed for multiple-use will be allowed, but single-use plastic for packaging and food vendors will not. Recycling and composting buckets will be provided.

For food vendors, organizers will need to ensure that everything meets Vancouver Coastal Health permits.

Vendors are encouraged to participate if they feel their products are sustainable and support conscious consuming.

Volunteers are needed to run workshops, sell raffle tickets, set up and take down the stage, run the volunteer food table, help with zero waste and more.

To sign up, email Graham Starsage, community sustainability coordinator, Roberts Creek Community Association, at [email protected]
