A Vancouver man is facing charges of exposing his genitals to a child and performing an indecent act July 11, court documents say.

The charges against Gregory Paul Platero West appear in a July 12 Vancouver Provincial Court information. He appeared in court July 18.

The information said the alleged indecent act took place in the 500 block of Keefer Street.

A Vancouver Police Department tweet July 12 noted the charges.

“Kids on East Van playground Tuesday saw a man exposing himself, reported it to an adult, & 911 was called,” the tweet said. “#VPD arrived & allegedly caught him in the act.”

A second court information for the previous day alleges West, 30, is in breach of a probation order from July 14, 2022.

Last November, West was charged with robbery in connection with a bank machine incident. There, a woman reported being mugged as she was using an ATM near Commercial Drive and Broadway.

A suspect was later arrested as he slept next to said ATM.

West has been in and out of the court system for over a decade for a variety of charges, including theft under $5,000, breach of probation and uttering threats.

West is due to return to court Aug. 2.

He remains in custody.
