PITTSBURGH (AP) — Logan Webb struck out 10 in six innings, and the San Francisco Giants hit three home runs on their way to an 8-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday night.
Webb (10-8) allowed one run while scattering seven hits. It was his sixth double-digit strikeout game of the season.
Rookie Christian Koss and Willy Adames each hit a two-run homer and Jerar Encarnacion added a solo shot off rookie Mike Burrows as San Francisco won for just the third time in 11 games.
Koss opened the scoring with a drive into the left-field bleachers in the third inning. Encarnacion’s blast increased the Giants’ lead to 3-1 in the fourth, and Adames’ 18th homer of the season made it 6-1 in the fifth.
Encarnacion was playing his first game since June 15 after being sidelined by a strained left oblique.
San Francisco’s Patrick Bailey added a two-run single in the sixth inning.
PHILLIES 5, ORIOLES 0
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Max Kepler and Brandon Marsh homered and Taijuan Walker pitched six scoreless innings as the NL East-leading Philadelphia beat Baltimore and extended their winning streak to three games.
Marsh opened the scoring in the second inning with an RBI double that scored Nick Castellanos and added a solo homer, his third in seven games, in the eighth inning. Marsh had gone 18 straight games without going deep.
Kepler hit a two-run homer in the second inning, his 12th of the season, and Bryson Stott hit an RBI triple off the top of the wall in right field to score Kepler in the fourth.
Walker (4-5) allowed four hits and struck out four without a walk in six innings.
ASTROS 7, MARLINS 3
MIAMI (AP) — Jose Altuve and Yainer Diaz homered to help Houston Astros beat Miami.
Jeremy Peña drove in two runs as AL West-leading Houston won its second straight game. AJ Blubaugh (1-1) pitched five innings of two-run ball in his first career win.
Altuve hit a two-run drive off Cal Quantrill in the first for his 19th homer. Peña made it 4-1 with a two-run triple in the fourth, and Diaz hit a three-run shot in the fifth for his 16th homer.
Quantrill (4-9) permitted seven runs and nine hits in 4 1/3 innings.
TWINS 6, TIGERS 3
DETROIT (AP) — Luke Keaschall hit his first homer in the majors and Trevor Larnach also cleared the fences against former teammate Chris Paddack, helping Minnesota beat Detroit.
The AL Central-leading Tigers lost for just the third time in nine games. The rebuilding Twins had dropped seven of their previous nine games.
Keaschall was activated from the 60-day injured list earlier the day and in the eighth game of his career, he hit a two-run homer in the first inning to give Minnesota a 3-0 lead. His RBI single in a two-run fifth put the Twins ahead 6-1.
Larnach’s 15th homer of the season and second in two days was a solo shot that gave Minnesota a 4-1 lead in the fourth.
RED SOX 6, ROYALS 2
BOSTON (AP) — Garrett Crochet scattered four hits over seven innings and Trevor Story hit a blooper into center field to break a sixth-inning tie on Tuesday night and led Boston over Kansas City.
Crochet (13-4) struck out eight to win his ninth consecutive decision and help Boston win for the ninth time in 10 games. Story drove in two runs in the sixth and and added another RBI single in the three-run seventh, when the Red Sox took a 6-2 lead.
Ryan Bergert (1-1) gave up two runs on two hits and two walks, striking out two in 5 2/3 innings. He walked Alex Bregman with two outs in the sixth, then Angel Zerpa came in and gave up a double to Wilyer Abreu before Story lofted one over the second baseman’s head to make it 3-1.
GUARDIANS 3, METS 2
NEW YORK (AP) — Steven Kwan singled home the tiebreaking run with two outs in the seventh inning, and Cleveland beat New York.
Kyle Manzardo and Gabriel Arias each had an RBI single off starter Clay Holmes in the fourth as the Guardians erased an early 2-0 deficit. They won for the sixth time in seven games and improved to 18-7 since snapping a 10-game losing streak on July 7.
Pete Alonso had a sacrifice fly in the first for the Mets, who have dropped seven of eight and are 1-4 on their six-game homestand. They fell 2 1/2 games behind first-place Philadelphia in the NL East.
Mark Vientos doubled leading off the second and scored on Tyrone Taylor’s single, but New York’s offense went silent after that against starter Logan Allen and four relievers.
Matt Festa (3-2) struck out two in a perfect sixth, and Cade Smith worked a 1-2-3 ninth for his fourth save.
ATHLETICS 16, NATIONALS 7
WASHINGTON (AP) — Shea Langeliers homered three times and finished with five hits in his first game batting in the leadoff spot, and the Athletics pounded slumping Washington.
Langeliers opened the game with a drive to center off MacKenzie Gore for his 20th homer. The 27-year-old catcher hit another leadoff shot in the fifth and the seventh.
Langeliers scored four times and finished with 15 bases. He became the fourth catcher with multiple three-homer games in a career — joining Hall of Famers Johnny Bench and Gary Carter, and Travis d’Arnaud. Langeliers and d’Arnaud are the only two to hit three from the leadoff spot.
JJ Bleday had four hits for the A’s for the second straight game. He homered and finished with six RBIs.
Darell Hernaiz also went deep, and Nick Kurtz scored four times. Brent Rooker finished with four hits and three RBIs.
BREWERS 7, BRAVES 2
ATLANTA (AP) — Freddy Peralta allowed only one run in five innings, Andrew Vaughn singled in two runs in Milwaukee’s four-run fourth and the Brewers beat Atlanta.
Milwaukee (69-44) extended its winning streak to five games to improve Major League Baseball’s best record. The NL Central-leading Brewers began the day three games ahead of the second-place Chicago Cubs.
Peralta (13-5) allowed only four hits in his return to Atlanta, where he participated in All-Star Game festivities last month.
Isaac Collins, who hit a three-run homer in Milwaukee’s 3-1 win in Monday night’s series opener, drove in two runs with two hits.
RANGERS 2, YANKEES 0
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Nathan Eovaldi pitched eight sharp innings, Rowdy Tellez blooped a two-run single on a 10-pitch at-bat in the eighth, and Texas spoiled Aaron Judge’s return with a victory over New York.
Judge was 0 for 3 with two strikeouts as the designated hitter after being activated from the 10-day injured list. The All-Star slugger has a tendon strain in his right elbow, and the Yankees plan to start a throwing program Wednesday to see how soon Judge can return to the outfield.
The Yankees have lost five in a row, one shy of their season worst, and 19 of their past 24 road games.
Anthony Volpe was the only baserunner against Eovaldi, reaching on a hustling double in the third when his soft liner landed behind shortstop Corey Seager in shallow left field.
Eovaldi (10-3) has allowed just two runs total in his past six starts. It was his seventh start since returning from right elbow inflammation.

CHICAGO (AP) — Zack Littell struck out eight in seven crisp innings in his debut, and Cincinnati beat Chicago.
Littell (9-8) allowed three hits and walked two in his first start since he was acquired in a trade with Tampa Bay last week.
Spencer Steer hit a tiebreaking three-run homer in Cincinnati’s four-run seventh. The Reds (60-54) won for the third time in four games.
Matt Shaw homered for the Cubs (65-48), who finished with four hits. They had just three hits in Monday night’s 3-2 loss in the series opener.
BLUE JAYS 10, ROCKIES 4
DENVER (AP) — Daulton Varsho hit a pair of two-run homers and a two-run double, and Toronto went deep five times in a victory over Colorado.
Varsho homered after Alejandro Kirk’s two-out single off Anthony Molina in the fourth to give Toronto (67-48) a 3-2 lead.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (three hits) and Addison Barger both homered for the 17th time — hitting back-to-back shots leading off the sixth. Kirk walked and scored on Varsho’s 11th homer to cap the four-run inning. Varsho’s double came in a three-run ninth to complete the scoring.
Nathan Lukes had two hits and hit his 10th homer — a two-out shot in the third for Toronto’s first run. Bo Bichette contributed two hits, a day after hitting two homers and driving in six runs in a 15-1 victory.
José Berríos (8-4) allowed four runs, three earned, in 5 1/3 innings. Tommy Nance pitched a scoreless ninth to end it.

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Brandon Lowe hit a two-run homer and Jake Mangum had a two-run single during Tampa Bay's seven-run fourth inning in a victory over Los Angeles.
Yandy Díaz scored a run and drove in another during the decisive inning in Tampa Bay’s third win in 13 games.
Ryan Pepiot (7-9) yielded five hits and two earned runs while pitching into the sixth inning for Tampa Bay, snapping his five-start winless streak.
Jo Adell homered and drove in all three runs for the Angels, who dropped to 6-6 on their 13-game homestand.
MARINERS 8, WHITE SOX 3
SEATTLE (AP) — Eugenio Suárez homered and Bryan Woo pitched seven sparkling innings, helping Seattle beat Chicago.
Suárez hit a tiebreaking two-run shot in the fourth inning for his 37th homer of the season. It was his first homer since he was reacquired by Seattle in a trade with Arizona last week.
Josh Naylor and Dominic Canzone also went deep for the Mariners in their fourth win in five games. Jorge Polanco finished with two hits and two RBIs.
Woo (9-6) struck out nine in his first win since July 4. The right-hander has pitched at least six innings in his first 22 starts this season, a franchise record.
DODGERS 12, CARDINALS 6
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Max Muncy and Teoscar Hernandez each homered twice and Mookie Betts had three hits as Los Angeles shook off their offensive struggles with a win over St. Louis.
Muncy, in just his second game following a month-long break due to a bone bruise injury from a collision, went 4 for 5 with four RBIs and three runs scored. In his first game back on Monday, Muncy went 0 for 3 with a walk.
Muncy hit his first home run off Cardinals starter Miles Mikolas 416 feet to right field. In the third inning, he hit his homer 404 feet.
Hernandez was 4 for 5 with four RBI and two runs scored for the NL West-leading Dodgers.
The Dodgers (66-48) had three extra-base hits in the first inning, matching the total number of hits they had against the Cardinals on Monday. They had 17 hits Tuesday.
Shohei Ohtani finished with two hits and three runs scored.
Nolan Gorman hit a two-run homer in the second inning for the Cardinals.
PADRES 10, DIAMONDBACKS 5, 11 INNINGS
PHOENIX (AP) — Luis Arráez had the go-ahead single in the 11th inning, Ramón Laureano added three hits and three RBIs, and San Diego beat Arizona.
Arráez was hitless in five at-bats before hitting a bloop single into short left field, which was enough to score Fernando Tatis Jr. from second base for a 6-5 lead. The Padres would tack on four more runs in the 11th.
San Diego has won eight of its past 10 games. Arizona had a three-game winning streak snapped.
Arizona’s Lourdes Gurriel Jr. hit two homers, including one on a 103.9 mph fastball from Mason Miller that made it 5-all in the eighth. It was the hardest hit pitch for a homer since MLB began pitch tracking in 2008.
