EDMONTON — RCMP say two workers at a daycare west of Edmonton have been charged with assaulting three children.

Mounties were called in March about allegations of assaults at the Little Stars Montessori Early Learning Center in Spruce Grove.

RCMP spokesman Cpl. Troy Savinkoff says the alleged assaults took place in February and involved children between the ages of one and three.

A 29-year-old and a 32-year-old each face two counts of assault, and the older accused also faces two counts of assault with a weapon.

Savinkoff says the weapon was an ice pack.

He says the two staff are no longer working at the daycare and both have been released ahead of a court date in September.
