The forecast calls for mostly sunny skies across the Sunshine Coast this weekend.

Because I have plans, I have been watching this weekend’s weather for the Sunshine Coast like a hawk all week and I can tell you, the forecast from Environment Canada, has changed every day.

But, with the exception of Friday afternoon, the weekend is looking pretty darn nice, so that’s the forecast I’m putting my faith in.

Today, May 2, starts out sunny, but the clouds should start creeping in near noon, when there is a 60 per cent chance of showers this afternoon.

The wind will be coming in from the northeast at 20 km/h this evening, with gusts up to 40 near the Strait of Georgia late this evening. The Coast will enjoy a high of 17-C today, with a low of 8-C overnight. The UV index is climbing to six, so definitely consider some sunscreen.

Saturday morning will see some clearing with the same wind situation into the early afternoon, but it will eventually become lighter. You can expect a high of 14-C Saturday, so ideal weather for a trip to the Sechelt Farmers' & Artisans' Market. The temperature will drop to 4-C overnight.

Sunday is forecast to be sunny all day with a high of 16-C and low of 4-C overnight, while Monday is expected to bring a high of 18-C

Meanwhile, Weatherhood is calling for sun all day with some cloudy periods this afternoon and a high of 17-C and low of 11-C overnight.

Saturday brings much of the same, but with a high of 12-C and low of 6-C overnight. Sunday, warms up to 14-C during the day and a low of 6-C overnight, leading into a few days of sun until Wednesday, when the showers are forecast to reappear.

But, the forecast can change every day, so don’t forget to check back. Also,  just a reminder that May 1, marked the launch of water conservation measures for properties on Sunshine Coast Regional District and Town of Gibsons water systems.
