Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival coming to the Coast

Organizers of the Puddle Jumper Classic are planning to bring the Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival (VIMFF) to the Coast for the first time.

They have hand picked great films of various lengths that highlight some of the outdoor activities on the Coast – trail running, mountain biking, climbing and kayaking.

The event opens Friday, Aug. 4 at 6 p.m. at the Gibsons Garden Hotel. Films start at 6:30 p.m. Persephone Brewing Company will be serving beer pre-show and at the intermission. Cost is $15 per ticket at www.eventbrite.ca

The following films will be in the evening’s line-up:

A Shepherd’s Hand (trail running): The legend of trail/fell runner Jos Naylor and his over-50s ultra 

Go Big or Go Home (Kayaking): The search for the perfect waves takes them from Africa to Canada including Skookumchuck

Not 2 Bad (mountain biking):  Big air and stunts, including a local BC mountain biker

The Hard Way (trail running): A senior who runs ultra-marathons

Conquering Ghost Ice (climbing): Canadian climbers tackling a rough ice climb 

Shift  (mountain biking): First Nations community in Montana embracing trail building and mountain biking 

The Accord (surfing): Surfing in Iceland, a breath taking experience
