The U14 Girls’ team played in a three-day tournament in Richmond on the weekend of Sept. 1 to 3. They came home wearing silver medals.

The weekend of Sept. 1 to 3 was the start of the soccer season for many of the Coast’s Rep teams. The U14 Girls’ team played in a three-day tournament in Richmond against teams that came from as far away as Prince George and Seattle.

This will be the girls’ second season playing together, and what a difference a year makes! Most noticeable was their passing and shooting skills.

The girls picked up one new player this year, Mikayla Totten, who is a great addition to the team, as both a strong offensive and defensive player.

These games were truly a team effort where every player did their part contributing to their success throughout the weekend. However, special shout outs go to Mika Schutz who scored seven goals on the first day of the tournament, Sarah Wilson, who earned a hat trick, and Hilary August for her amazing goal keeping.

The girls won their first three games, earning themselves a place in the final game against Seattle, where they lost 2-1. Coming home with silver medals after the summer off is hopefully a sign of a promising season ahead. Well done, Storm – way to play as a team!
