Ski and Snowboard Provincials took place from March 4 to 6 in Smithers.
Evelyn Klassen from the Chatelech Ski and Snowboard Team earned a berth in the Snowboarding Girls category and participated in giant slalom and snowboard cross.
On Monday, March 4, she was speeding down the tough giant slalom course but the unrelenting cold and difficult snow conditions led to her sliding out and being disqualified during her two runs. Determined to place, Evelyn rested on Tuesday and prepared for her race on Wednesday. That morning, she was primed for the end of the post-season. She placed 12th against some of the most difficult competition she had faced, far more than her qualifying competition. Evelyn is looking forward to next year’s season with all her teammates.
