On Thursday, Aug. 9, Gibsons’ Angela ‘Mighty Mouse’ Cantarutti made her way into the kickboxing ring for her second K1 kickboxing match since making the switch from boxing to kickboxing.

Cantarutti fought as a boxer for two years, making her way to become the No. 1 ranked female B.C. contender.

“Being a former soccer player, Cantarutti found that kickboxing was a much better fit for her, so she settled in and hasn’t looked back since,” said Dave Hollett, head coach and owner of Hollett’s Kickboxing Academy (HKA). “Her work ethic in the gym is beyond what most people can even imagine coming from a 5’2’’ 120 lb. female machine. Her hard work and dedication to kickboxing inspires all our other members, both male and female.”

On Aug. 9, Cantarutti faced a very game opponent from the well known WKX Kickboxing gym in Vancouver.

“Once the fight began, it didn’t take Mighty Mouse long to find her punching range, and she started to push the pace on her bigger opponent,” Hollett said.

“Angela executed some beautiful footwork, feints, and great combos that carried her through all three rounds of her bout. Angela’s opponent had no answer for her clean boxing skills and newfound love for kicking. After the end of the third round, all three judges scored the fight 30-27 for a unanimous victory.”

Hollett said the gym “couldn’t be any happier with Mighty Mouse’s performance” as Cantarutti “executed everything we had worked on and practised for.
