The final race of the 2019 Brewery Run Series had the biggest turnout yet with 42 runners completing The Bricker 7k. Herman Mentz and Sara Tyne of Sechelt were the overall winners, each taking home a growler from The Bricker.

Unlike last week’s Tapworks 5k, the battle for first overall in the 7k was a close one, with Mentz edging out Byron Fader of Powell River by just four seconds. Taking a strong third 41 seconds later was Sechelt’s Jamie Leveque.

The women’s race was a different story with Tyne finishing well over a minute ahead of her nearest rival. Second and third were much closer, with Alexa Dornbierer of Sechelt crossing the line only nine seconds ahead of Katie Oliver of Gibsons.

After enjoying fruit and goodies at the finish line, participants and volunteers headed to The Bricker for the awards ceremony, a well-earned cider (included with the race entry) and breakfast from The Manor Born foods.

The next local road race hosted by PaceSetter is Aug. 11 in Garden Bay. Register now for the Four Lakes 10k + 3k Family Fun Run/Walk, and enjoy a morning (or a whole day) at beautiful Katherine Lake Park.
