The Sunshine Coast Boxing Club’s Angela Cantarutti will box at this year’s Canadian Championships in the 119-pound Elite category.
Cantarutti went to the team’s training camp as a developmental prospect for the 2020 Nationals – but after two days of training, fitness testing and sparring, she had been so impressive that head coach Bob Pegues offered her a position on this year’s team.
The Nationals take place next month in Victoria when Canada’s top amateur boxers compete for Canadian titles.
Cantarutti trains at the Lift Training Centre under the tutelage of owner and coach Tariq Abdulrahman.
