Editor:
For years students of this community have designed banners to be hung along Cowrie Street and Wharf Avenue in Sechelt.
A theme is set by volunteers of the Sunshine Coast Art Centre and the students submit designs for the banners. A number of artists select the banners to adorn our community. Then more volunteers copy the designs onto large banners. Each banner takes several hours of work to complete — a really unique community project. But last year these community works of art were relegated to the car park behind the library. Visitors missed them, the community missed them, the students and volunteers who participated in this community project missed them. Few people could describe what had replaced the student banners.
Please do not relegate next year’s student banners to the car park.
