The following letter was sent to AG Suzanne Anton with an edited version copied to Coast Reporter.
Dear Attorney-General Anton:
Some citizens in B.C., who have been working for a decade to obtain justice for the sexually exploited and trafficked girls of the polygamous cult of Bountiful, are extremely concerned that we are being forced yet again to make a request for information. This email is our third.
You did not respond to our first email, dated Oct. 14, 2014, when we asked why ex-Bishop Winston Blackmore had been charged only with polygamy and not with his serious crimes of impregnating 10 underage girls, plus trafficking underage girls into and out of FLDS compounds in the U.S. We remind you that on June 30, 2009, Const. Shelley Livingstone of the RCMP stated in B.C. Supreme Court that police have DNA and birth certificate proof of Blackmore’s guilt regarding the above-mentioned crimes. They recommended charges be laid.
Because we received no answer to our Oct. 14, 2014 email, we wrote again on Feb. 27, 2015, repeating our request.
On March 13, 2015, we received your response. However, once again our request for information was ignored. All we received was the repetition of the statement of the Criminal Justice Branch on Aug. 14, 2014. This notice announced that Special Prosecutor Peter Wilson, QC, had approved criminal charges against Winston Blackmore (polygamy); James Oler (polygamy, plus unlawful removal of a child from Canada); Brandon Blackmore and Emily Crossfield (removal of a child from Canada).
The rumour is that the Liberal government is not charging Blackmore with all his crimes because of high court costs. However, we remind you that Supreme Court Justice Mark McEwan has stated, “You cannot put a price tag on justice. Some things are not for sale.”
