I am still worried about the lack of information regarding the sinkholes on and around several properties in the North Gale area.
While we all celebrate the report on the water treatment plant, let’s take a moment to think about what could happen here. We have residents who can no longer live in their homes. With no indication of liability, it begs me to ask who is liable here — the developer for building on this apparent unstable land (remember this is not the first instance) or council for permitting the development?
Either way, there are people living in limbo here, and I for one am worried that we the taxpayers could be on the hook for this — about a dozen houses at approximately $800,000 each plus compensation.
Why the silence on this file? Could someone please step up and explain our potential liability and progress on this matter?
