Welcome to our world

In reference to John Gleeson’s article in last week’s Coast Reporter, “George gets higher and higher,” I would like to welcome John to our world of confusing answers from staff and council in Gibsons.

I am glad for your opinion but would have welcomed your comments even more if they had been written before council and mayor voted unanimously to go ahead with this project, no matter what height it is and how it is measured. If you, John, could not figure out the height after explanations from Town staff, then I am sure that our own mayor and council could not either. Not that they ever cared or tried to really figure it out.

You find it “strange”? So do I, and so do many, many others in Gibsons and in fact the whole Coast and beyond. The really “strange” thing is that our mayor and council have given this project a green light with very little discussion over the height, mass or the many other risks that this project will incur. They gave this developer carte blanche for this hotel. Strange? Very much so!

I guess this is what voting for change means in Gibsons. Voters beware!
