In George Kosinski's letter to the editor (Coast Reporter, June 28), he mentions that there are no legal restrictions on abortion in Canada, so why would Suzanne Diamond bring up the topic of gendercide, abortion of a child just because it is not the wanted gender?

Just because a moral wrong is not in the Criminal Code of Canada does not mean that it never was or never should be in the Criminal Code. The killing of a fellow human being for whatever reason is Criminal Code matter. That Canada doesn't have any legal protection for the preborn child is a situation to be lamented.

Even Pierre Trudeau said that the preborn should not be killed with impunity; that means without punishment. The Supreme Court of Canada in its 1988 decision said that bringing forth legislation governing abortion was an acceptable use of governmental power.

Let's start the process by making a law against something that polls show that 92 per cent of Canadians are against -the aborting of a child just because it's a girl. This is happening in Canada and it needs to be stopped.
