On Saturday, after hearing the weather forecast for rain, my husband set up a rain barrel. We live in a bungalow in West Sechelt and have a vegetable, fruit and flower garden, so we’re not happy to know that the gardens may dry up with the hot summer and water restrictions. Happily, last night, one downspout spilled 200 litres of rainwater into the barrel, and started to overflow. This, combined with the saved grey water, will hopefully keep our edible gardens nourished.
