Undeserved credit

I was delighted to see the article in your publication last week about the tribute to Joni Mitchell currently at GPAG (“Gallery looks at life from Both Sides Now”). It is great to see such support for local endeavours.

However, I was horrified to read at the start of the third paragraph that “Coast artist Mudito Drope started the ball rolling …” This explains why folks have been coming up to me to congratulate me on “my” show. In no way is this the reality. The credit for the initial idea goes to Pat Drope, and all the hard work of putting on a show of this calibre goes to her and her team at the gallery.

I was asked by the gallery to paint a portrait of Joni Mitchell to be used in their promotional material, and I was delighted to do this. That was pretty well the full extent of my contribution to the show. I would appreciate it if you would set the record straight.
