Undermining community vision

It is with great disappointment that I feel obligated to write an email concerning yet another change in our official community plan (OCP) that again favours business and industry over residents. I am referring to OCP bylaw No. 492, 2010 to change the East Porpoise Bay waterfront from residential and light industry to heavy-duty marine industry.

The changes in the OCP do not support the values the plan was supposed to protect. I resent having to write to once again defend the OCP.

Perhaps all members of council should imagine how they would vote on these proposed changes if they lived in the communities they insist on changing. In this instance "not in my backyard" is a sufficient reason to justify not changing this bylaw.

I feel deeply betrayed and question the intent of the local representatives who are undermining the vision of our community.
