People seem to think that Sechelt put a no-trapping bylaw in place following the move by Gibsons former council. In fact no such bylaw is in effect in the District of Sechelt to ensure the safety of its citizens and tourists.

Our previous council was still dragging its heels over legalities when their term ended, and our new council also believes that to pass such a law would be "illegal" despite the fact that 10 municipalities in British Columbia have already passed anti-trapping laws, recognizing the importance of public safety.

If you are concerned about this, please come to the committee of the whole meeting on March 28 at 1 p.m. when this issue will be discussed.
