Re: Gibsons bus route letter (Coast Reporter, Jan. 27).

It seems to have been said that the traffic calming measures installed on the section of South Fletcher Road between Winn and Gower Point roads make it unsafe to drive buses along that route. A recent letter to the editor called for a reexamination of the road narrowing and speed bumps so that bus service can be restored to that busy public area.

We do agree that action is required. The people do need bus stops close to the library, Town offices, museum, Arts Centre, offices, Post Office, etc., but please leave the traffic calming, it works perfectly. The road is narrowed in three places to 21 feet (6.5 m), which is more than twice the width of a bus so should be an easy passage for a bus traveling at the posted speed of 30 km/h.

In my opinion the only action needed is to get bus drivers who will drive more carefully, and observe the speed limits.
