Too late to sail

Letters

Editor:

Another two hours of my life wasted. Needlessly cooling one’s heels for 2.5 hours at the Horseshoe Bay terminal is not fun! We caught the 3:15 (departed at 3:25) ferry to meet our daughter for dinner in Horseshoe Bay. Returned back to the terminal at 5:22 for the 5:30 sailing. Ticket sales were cut off at 5:20. The ferry left the dock at 5:36. The terminal manager politely apologized for the inconvenience. That did little to address the arbitrary sales cutoff – 10 minutes before the scheduled sailing time. When, I ask, is the ferry ever on time? I know it would be an inconvenience for terminal staff to leave sales open when the boat is late departing. Surely the terminal manager could instruct kiosk staff to keep sales open when the boat is going to be late leaving the dock! But, I guess terminal staff are not the paying customers hoping to get to work or to get home on time.
