This letter is directed at a small group of Sechelt (and non-Sechelt) residents who are intent on trying to undermine the Sechelt mayor and council by getting in the way of any and all plans for growth.
The residents of Sechelt need to be aware of this group of people who are actively trying to have the wastewater treatment plant plans scrapped by causing the provincial and federal governments to reconsider funding. Talk about cutting off your noses to spite your faces. What small-minded behaviour! This small group is not representative of the majority of Sechelt residents, so how can they possibly speak on our behalf?
To my fellow Sechelt residents, this is a call to action. Become informed and do not just accept, as factual, information you receive in your mailboxes or online. Ask questions and get the facts not the fear mongering. There are people out there who are so intent on winning that they just don't care about the outcome.
Have any of you thought about the consequences of no government funding for a wastewater treatment plant? Has it occurred to you what all of this negativity is doing to your property values and your community and the effect this will have on the futures of your children?
We've got to act and act now. As you know "the squeaky wheel often gets the grease" and it's too bad when that wheel is attached to an old broken down jalopy!
To the troublemakers, be careful what you wish for. "To the victor go the spoils" - but if, to make a point, you were to be successful in your endeavours to shut down funding, then the spoils may not be worth having!
