I recently watched a dog fly out of the back of a gray pickup truck on the highway.
I love dogs, and this was the last straw for me to see this. It’s not the dog’s fault that you can’t transport him properly. I don’t know how many times on the Sunshine Coast I have seen animals not taken care of by their owners. They’re wandering along the highway, they’re wandering around the neighbourhoods, and many are loose in the back of a pickup truck speeding down the highway.
I would like to know what is wrong with you people? I barely even have words for how angry I am every time I see this kind of thing happen.
Why does this happen? Is it laziness? Do you just not care? Many of you don’t even deserve the awesome privilege of having a dog. If you don’t want the dog in the cab with you, then properly anchor a crate in the box of the truck to transport your dog (it’s not that hard and it’s a lot safer). Unless that challenges your virility somehow, and then it’s the dog that has to pay for your ego trip.
I am completely at a loss as to how people can be so stupid. It’s against the law to transport your dog in the back of your truck like that. Section 72 of the BC Motor Vehicle Act prohibits the transport of an unsecured pet in the back of a pickup truck. Under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, you can also be charged for cruelty to animals if your pet is injured.
I will be taking down licence plates and reporting people every time I see this happen.
