Re: Council kills goose shooting in Sechelt (Coast Reporter, April 3).

My husband and I read your the above mentioned article and were a bit upset by council’s initial permission for someone to kill geese (way to go Noel for standing your ground).

I understand and appreciate the reasoning behind Mr. Davies’ killing of the geese – that, “The whole idea is to leave the carcasses there. You shoot one or two at a time... and you leave them in the field. The geese fly over - they’re not stupid; they’re looking down - and they will not land.”

We were wondering if this works with cats. I really want to keep the cats out of my son’s sandbox. Maybe I could kill one and just leave it in the sandbox so other cats will see it and wont crap in it. My son could just shovel around it. Or maybe I could put the lid on the sandbox. Or I could get something that looks like a dead cat (probably “not as good as shooting but the next best thing”) and put that in the sandbox to ward off other offending cats. What do you think?

Seriously though (I’m not into killing anything), there has got to be another way of living with the geese other than killing a few.
