Terminal upgrade makes no sense

I read with interest your article on the proposed Langdale terminal redesign (Coast Reporter, June 7).

With BC Ferries in such financial trouble and ferry users facing increased fares and cuts to service, a project like this makes no economic sense. Sure, it would be nice to have an improved terminal, but the existing terminal works well enough, it's being constantly upgraded, and I'm sure it will keep functioning long into the future.

I can't understand why, in tough economic times, our government and BC Ferries keep spending and spending our tax dollars on projects we simply can't afford. I know I certainly can't spend more than I make. It's not rocket science. I say enough is enough. Stop spending, because in the end, we who use the ferry will get stuck with the bill - and we know what that means: higher ferry fares. If we can't afford it, then let's not build it - it's that simple.
